The Concept

Heat flows
where you direct it.

Keloric is a thermal strategy puzzle game built around the physics of heat diffusion. Each level presents a 10×10 grid of materials — metal, glass, wood, air, and impassable walls — arranged by the puzzle designer.

Your job: place a limited budget of hot and cold sources to steer heat through the grid and bring specific target cells into their required temperature ranges. The simulation runs in real time, and every material conducts differently.

Solve within or under par source count and you earn three stars. The physics allow many paths — but efficiency is the art.

Material System

Conductivity is everything.

Metal
κ = 0.42

High conductivity. Heat propagates fast and far. The backbone of any efficient routing solution.

Glass
κ = 0.14

Moderate conductivity. A useful bridge — enough transfer to reach targets without overwhelming adjacent cells.

Wood
κ = 0.05

Low conductivity. A near-insulator. Dramatically slows diffusion — useful for isolating sensitive targets.

Air
κ = 0.01

Negligible conductivity. Open cells that barely transfer heat — effective thermal barriers between paths.

Wall
κ = 0.00

Zero conductivity. Impassable. No sources may be placed on walls — they define the fixed geometry of each puzzle.

Temperature Visualization

The grid in color.

Every cell renders its temperature as a color on a six-stop scale — from deep blue at −10°C through ambient dark at 22°C to incandescent white-yellow at 150°C. You read the simulation state at a glance.

Gameplay Loop

Simple rules. Deep solutions.

Read the Grid

Analyze the material layout and target cells. Identify which paths conduct efficiently — and which block heat entirely. Each layout is a logic puzzle before you place a single source.

Place Sources

Tap to place hot (+150°C) or cold (−10°C) sources within your budget. Sources lock to their fixed temperature and drive diffusion outward through adjacent non-wall cells.

Run the Simulation

Hit Simulate and watch the thermal field evolve in real time at 10 ticks per second. The color field updates live as heat diffuses toward equilibrium.

Hit Your Targets

Every target cell must reach its required temperature range simultaneously to win. Adjust source placement and re-run until every target border turns green.

Real-Time Simulation

Conductivity-weighted cellular automaton at 10 ticks/second. Numerically stable within −15°C to 155°C — no runaway oscillation.

Six-Stop Thermal Field

Continuous temperature-to-color mapping renders the entire grid state at a glance. No HUD numbers needed to understand the physics.

Efficiency Scoring

Three-star system rewards solutions at or below par source count. Brute force gets you through — elegance earns the stars.
